Felix Schindler
b. 24 Oct. 1924 in Wattwil, d. 12 June 2012 in Wil
An accident in which he was caught in a chaff cutter and lost his left arm spurred Felix Schindler to turn to painting. He depicted memories from his youth as well as Alpine dairy scenes. Josef John compares his best works with the quality of an artist such as Adolf Dietrich. Schindler grew up on Mount Tüetlisberg and worked as an independent farmer from 1949 to 1980 before working at a juice factory in Märwil from 1980 to 1986. Later he began working as an arborist for the canton and foreman of a grass drying plant. Schindler enjoyed visiting local exhibitions at inns and community centers. He judged the exhibited works strictly based on his own criteria of extremely precise depiction, which he also applied in his own painting.
